Blogging Friends Help Keep Us Informed!
Thanks to my blogging friend, Lillie Ammann, I learned just this morning that today is World Alzheimer's Day. (I can always count on Lillie to post about the less-widely publicized days that are worthy of note. Thanks, Lillie!) To read Lillie's post, follow this link: World Alzheimer's Day: Wear Purple.
Alzheimer's: A Widespread Problem That Hits Close to Home
Over five million people in America alone currently live with Alzheimer's. Many of my Writer's Notes readers know that my mom was one of them until this devastating illness took her life on May 17, 2009. That was an extremely difficult period in my life, which makes this a cause that's close to my heart. That's one reason I want to do all I can to help raise awareness about Alzheimer's.
The Alzheimer's Association: A Lifeline to Patients and Their Families
Another reason I feel pulled to publicize World Alzheimer's Day is to draw attention to the Alzheimer's Association and the wonderful job it's doing to help support Alzheimer's patients and their families. I've personally experienced that support, through my own local chapter, and I can't stress strongly enough what a godsend it was to have that lifeline to hang onto as I plunged deeper and deeper into a world I didn't understand and didn't possess the skills to cope with effectively. I didn't even avail myself of all the services the Association offers; yet, I found its support invaluable.
Bloggers: Join the Cause by Spreading the Word
If you have a website or blog—or even if you only have a Facebook or other social media account—and you'd like to help spread the word about Alzheimer's, visit this webpage and choose one of several widgets to display on your site and/or profile. (While the animation doesn't work on Facebook, the logo will still display, though it will only show one side rather than switching back and forth between the front and back.)
If you have a Facebook account, you can also show your support by becoming a fan of the Alzheimer's Association on Facebook.
How You Can Learn More
To learn more about Alzheimer's, visit the Alzheimer's Association's blog or read and/or download a copy of the 2009 World Alzheimer's Report.
Many people are wearing purple today to commemorate the Alzheimer's cause. Whether or not you choose to do that, you can still get the word out about Alzheimer's!
Thanks for reading!

Haven't Forgotten You!
Just wanted to let my readers know that I haven't forgotten my blog--or you! Lately, I've been kept quite busy battling a wicked PC Antispyware 2010 infection, contracted on August 8th; and though I managed to rid myself of the active infection about a week later, many problems lingered, including an inaccessible Windows Security Center (a problem I finally managed to correct just the other day, to my immense relief).
As you can imagine, I've spent a huge amount of time simply researching this malware online to learn all I can about its characteristics and how to correct the multitude of problems it creates on a PC--not to mention experimenting with and implementing various fixes--and it's been a fascinating, albeit often-frustrating education!
What Is PC Antispyware 2010?
PC Antispyware 2010 is a rogue antispyware program that causes alarming pop-ups to appear on your desktop (and even in front of web pages you visit) warning you of threats it has supposedly found on your PC and urging you to visit its website and register its "antispyware program," which you of course must pay for. The program claims to be scanning your computer, and to "prove" it, displays a status bar which shows the progress of the so-called scan. It's quite an alarming occurrence to see these windows continually popping up when you least expect them.
Characteristics of This Malware
PC Antispyware 2010 infiltrates so many different parts of your PC that it's extremely difficult to remove fully. It disables your antivirus and antispyware programs so they can't detect and remove it (or partly disables them so they appear to be doing something when in fact they are ineffective at removing the main infection). It can also prevent other anti-malware programs from being downloaded and/or run or disable access to their help files, which makes it difficult to replace your non-functioning programs to fight the malware infection.
It continually regenerates itself when you delete its files and places its main program into your PC's Startup menu so that every time you boot up, the malicious program reloads. PC Antispyware 2010 is caused by the Braviax virus (also called cru629) and is downloaded via several Trojans/Trojan downloaders. It also places rootkits (collections of hidden files that enable the program to do its dirty deeds) in various places on your PC, making it difficult to track down and fully remove this cyber menace.
Tips for Avoiding the Infection
This program is so persistent and so insidious that, once contracted, you have a real fight on your hands. So, please make every effort to avoid it! Be very careful what you download from the Internet, being sure it's from a trusted source. And never allow a Java (or other) program update to proceed when the update window suddenly pops up while you're surfing the Internet! (I've read that this is the way--or perhaps one way--PC Antispyware 2010 is downloaded, and I can easily believe this because I allowed a Java update while online at about the same time I contracted the infection.)
Be sure your Windows Firewall is turned on and your antivirus and antispyware programs are up-to-date--and use them to do periodic full scans of your PC fairly regularly, as well as regular quick scans--and be sure to run boot-time scans periodically as well, because PC Antispyware 2010 regenerates itself during bootup, and, of course, scans performed after bootup are ineffective at removing it from your boot menu.
More Info About PC Antispyware 2010 from K and Me at ShanKrila
For further information about PC Antispyware 2010, its symptoms, tips for its removal, and information specific to my experiences with it, visit my blogging buddy K-IntheHouse's post at ShanKrila, How to Remove PC AntiSpyware 2010? In this post, K--whose tagline for ShanKrila is "a blog where technology meets daily life"--answers my question about how to remove the malware, providing links to many helpful tools and resources.
I've also provided a great deal of information about my own experiences with the infection, as well as my discoveries, techniques, and triumphs in removing it, which you'll find in the Comments section of K's post. If you have contracted this infection, you may find some of this information helpful in resolving the multitude of issues you'll face in fully eradicating it. It's an ongoing process, and each time I discover something new about the malware or overcome another issue related to it, I update the info in a new comment at ShanKrila, with the object of helping others who may be struggling with this devious program (or who may simply want to learn more about it).
So, check out K's post and my associated comments, and arm yourself against PC Antispyware 2010!
To your PC's health!
Jeanne
February '09 Comment Recognition
I'm honored to once again recognize my valued readers who have left comments at Writer's Notes. To the special people who have graced this little corner of the blogosphere with your wit and wisdom during the month of February, 2009, "Thank you!" You help make this blog so much more interesting, and you are greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Everyone!
I appreciate all your thoughtful, wise, inspiring, and informative comments! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and share your thoughts at Writer's Notes! I truly enjoy reading your insights, viewpoints, and perspectives and especially appreciate your loyalty over the past month, during which I've posted so little, since you are obviously a die-hard Writer's Notes fan!
Sparser Posting Schedule
My sincere apologies for the lateness of this comment appreciation post, for my sparser-than-ever posting schedule lately, and for my practically non-existent visits and comments at the other blogs that I so enjoy. So many things have been keeping me busy--all vying for my attention at once--that it seems impossible to get to them all; and I admit that, as a result, I've been rather lax in my updates here at Writer's Notes.* I hope you'll forgive me. I appreciate each and every one of you who took the time to leave a comment--even more now than when I have a larger group! Thanks so much for your faithfulness!

Many congratulations to Mark Antony, who won the drawing!

Many Apologies for My Sparser than Usual Posting Schedule Last Month
Due to several new ongoing writing/editing/coaching gigs, I've been so overwhelmed with work during the past few weeks that I simply haven't been able to find the time to post--for which I truly apologize! I was in fact offered--and accepted--two regular ongoing gigs and one longer term project in the same week, which has basically wreaked havoc with my writing--and life--schedule, keeping me busy almost nonstop since.
As you can well imagine, many regular gigs include a steep learning curve, which makes them even more work at the beginning, and this is what I've been up against--particularly with my new editing gig which consists of editing grant proposals for an educational website. So far, I've completed six different assignments of varying lengths for this site in the past 10 days, one of which was a substantive edit of a full grant proposal consisting of 12 pages. So, I have definitely been keeping busy lately and not simply ignoring you!
Many, many thanks for your comments!
Jeanne

Sparser Posting Schedule = Fewer Commenters to Recognize
My apologies that my posting schedule, as well as my own visits and comments on the other blogs that I so enjoy, were quite sparse last month--which is why my comment recognition list is so short! Still, I appreciate each and every one of you who took the time to leave a comment--in fact, I appreciate you even more now than when I have a larger group! July '08 Comment Recognition
Once again it's time to recognize my valued readers who have left comments at Writer's Notes during the month of July, 2008. My apologies that my July posts were so sparse. Life has been especially hectic again this past month! And consequently, because I wrote so few posts, my list of July commenters will be correspondingly short. (Special thanks to this loyal group of die-hard Writer's Notes fans who decided to stick with me anyway! Thanks, too, to those of you who commented here for the first time last month! You, too, are greatly appreciated!)

Be sure to drop by the Cafe for a visit!
Writer's Cafe Reopens This Friday
I'm excited to report that Yvonne Russell will be reopening her popular Writers Cafe, at Grow Your Writing Business this Friday, February 29th. I'm sure that everyone who's enjoyed gathering at Yvonne's place for a friendly chat about the writing life will agree that that's good news! Yvonne has been on hiatus lately due to unforseen circumstances--and also taken a much-deserved rest--and it will be fantastic to see her back! I know I speak for many other writers and bloggers when I say that both she and the Cafe have truly been missed!
Be Sure to Be There!
The grand reopening of the Writers Cafe will happen this Friday, so be sure not to miss it! As before, Yvonne's cyber cafe will be open every weekend, Friday through Sunday, giving writers and bloggers a wonderful place to congregate over the weekend, sharing inspiration, experiences, accomplishments, and encouragement with their peers. Be sure to bring along a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa, and prepare to settle in with your favorite sweet--or not-so-sweet--snack. You're gonna love it!
Hope to see you there!
Jeanne
Did you enjoy this post? Have anything to add? What do you enjoy most about the Writers Cafe? If you're new to it, hope you'll stop by and introduce yourself! It's a very friendly group!

A Friend In Need
When my blogging buddy, Michele Tune, learned of my family's battle with sickness, which prevented me from posting as often as usual, she did a very gracious thing: She wrote and sent me a guest post to help fill in the gap and take some of the pressure off me. (Now I know why I gave her the "Blogging Gem Award" recently: because she truly is one gem of a blogger!)
Now, on to Michele's post!
That’s What Writers Bloggers Are For
By Michele L. Tune
Since I've joined the online writing community, I've noticed how gracious other writers bloggers are. Offering up compliments, advice, tips, sharing markets, lessons for better writing... The list goes on. It's amazing how warm, caring, and kind the writing world is. I've grown to love it beyond words, as well as each of the amazing writers I come into contact with daily, including Jeanne! It's so encouraging to know there are other writers out there who understand what it's like to stay up all night writing, to write while being sick, or how it feels to have the writing career mocked like it's nothing more than lounging on a couch wearing jammies, sipping a latte, and playing on a laptop. It's just nice to belong, isn't it?
That's why when I read Jeanne's recent post, my heart melted. I sympathized with her illnesses and those of her family members, as I've struggled through many health issues, surgeries, and trials of illness myself. I have the special gift of also being able to empathize. I can feel other people's pain. My heart literally hurts for them. I think that's why when I write, I write with such emotion. I not only share my own heart, giving my readers a peek into my very soul, but envision the aching hearts of my readers and aspire to touch their hearts, stir their emotions, and make their day better. It's why I created my motto: Inspiring readers one word at a time...
Jeanne's "Please Bear With Me!" plea really got my attention. Bear with her? Why not help her? Why not use my talent with words to write a guest post and take a little pressure off? It's bad enough she has to tend to sick family members while not feeling well herself, meet clients' deadlines, and be superwoman overall, why should she have to worry about pleasing Writer's Notes readers with fresh and unique posts every day all on her own? That's where I come in.
So, do you want to know how to step up your writing game? I decided to share a few techniques I use as I write the cyber highway.
1. Be open. Let your readers in. Search deep inside your heart, sweep the cobwebs of your soul, and expose the real you. Your readers will feel comfortable knowing you’re genuine, that you care enough to write what’s hardest to write, and they’ll come begging for more.
2. Keep your eyes open. Just like this guest post, I saw an opportunity to help a writer friend while at the same time write for a new readership. It never hurts to guest post. I’ve made up my mind to do more of it this year. If you see a window of opportunity, crawl through! The person on the other end may very well love your idea and who knows where that will lead?
3. Get organized. I mention this often on my blog. If you know where you’ve sent your queries and submissions and when you sent them, you’ll be able to focus on actually writing instead of wondering. Make copies of your checks or print out PayPal invoices when you’re paid and staple them to your acceptance letters and contracts. Keep them in a file and update that file or make a new one each year. It’s refreshing, and inspiring, to be neat and be able to find things. It leaves more time for creativity and writing!
4. Listen. Eavesdrop. Pay attention! Some writers take a notebook and pen with them while they’re out and about, even jotting down snippets of conversation they overhear. That dialogue may set your fictional piece or novel on fire!
5. Care. Care about your writing, yourself, your readers, your work. Write from your heart, write often, write to engage your readers and bring them to the edge of their chairs. Don’t just rush off the first thing you write. Let it sit. Clear your mind for a day or so. Then go back with a fresh eye. Be willing to cut words or entire sentences or paragraphs to polish your piece and make it the best it can be.
I hope these five tips help you. Never think that you have no room to improve. Don’t feel like you have nothing left to learn. Writers evolve, change, and grow. We get better with time and practice, by studying and writing more.
And the next time you see a blogger friend struggling, help. Because that’s what bloggers are for!

Writing the Cyber Highway: a blog
ADDED NOTE: Michele has written an excellent blog review of the Writer's Round-About blog as an entry to Rebecca Lafarr-Smith's exciting contest. She has the opportunity to win $100 worth of books from Amazon.com. So, why not stop by, read her entry, Cyber Contest: Win Prizes from Amazon!, and give her your support by voting for it via Rebecca's You Decide The Winner! post. (You'll be able to read the other contest entries, as well, by using the links in Rebecca's post.)
Michele got my vote--not merely because she's a great person (though she certainly is that)--but because her post is excellently written and is also the only entry that followed every one of the contest rules--and then some! Also, if you'd like to Stumble her post, feel free to stop back by Writer's Notes and use the link. Check out her great post! The contest ends Saturday, February 16th. So, if you haven't voted yet, please vote before then! Thanks! (If you're reading this post after that date, visit her blog anyway! It's fantastic!)
Did you enjoy this post? Why not let Michele know it! Have any thoughts or experiences to share? Michele would just love to hear from you!
One Illness on Top of Another
Just wanted to let my readers know that the reason I haven't been posting much lately has been that various members of my family have been ill with a number of different problems. We've all heard the saying, "When it rains, it pours." Well, that's what it's doing at our house, as well as among my remotely located relatives.
Both Locally...
I, personally, haven't yet fully come back to good health, myself, since before Christmas, with various manifestations/new strains popping up just when I've felt I was recovering from the old ones! Aside from that, my 19-year-old son just came down with a bad case of the flu a few nights ago, with a high temp of 103 yesterday, and my mom has been dealing with various health issues, as well.
And Remotely...
As if that weren't enough, I've also received phone calls/e-mails in the past three days or so that a few other close family members--close in relationship, though not in proximity--have had frightening medical episodes, including emergency trips and/or admissions to their local hospitals. So, as you can see, I've had a great deal on my mind, of late!
Writing Deadlines Also Loom
Aside from this, there are, of course, the usual regular writing deadlines for my contract writing clients, which, though I've managed to postpone a few--mainly by delaying the start of a sub-contract with a new client-of-a-client--have still kept me occupied more than I'd like to be at a time of family medical crisis--or more accurately, family medical crises.
Please Bear With Me!
So, please forgive me for not updating Writer's Notes, lately. I've really wanted to, believe me, and hope to return to doing so again very soon! In fact, if I'm able to manage to write a post which I'd like to enter into the Middle Zone Musings "What I Learned From...People" writing project before the deadline (which is Sunday night MZM time--which means Middle Zone Musings time--I'll be posting it here with a link to MZM. Hope I'll be able to manage it! Time will tell!
Thanks for your understanding!
Jeanne
A Nice Matters Award Version I Wasn't Aware Of
A little while back, I awarded the Nice Matters badge to a number of bloggers whom I considered to be some of the more friendly and kind bloggers I'd "met" during the past year that I've been blogging. (See my earlier post, Nice Matters Award: A Blogger's Gift.) At the time, I was aware of only one version of the award--the very feminine-looking version which I have in my blog's sidebar. I therefore made my apologies to the fellas and offered it to them anyway. However, I'm now happy to report that, thanks to Krissy Knox of Sometimes I Think, I now have the masculine version to offer the guys I nominated for the award back then.
The Guys' ReAward, If You Will
I'll repost the list of guys to whom I gave the award, so they can come on by and pick up the new (to me, at least) "Gentlemen's version" of the Nice Matters Award badge.
Here they are, in no particular order:
Dan, at dcr Blogs
Brad Shorr, at Word Sell, Inc.
Robert Hruzek, at Middle Zone Musings
Michael Martin, at Pro Blog Design
K-IntheHouse, at ShanKri-la
Raven, at Alaska Chronicle
Tom Colvin, at Becoming a Writer Seriously
The "New" Badge
Here's the new badge, fellas. Hope you'll like it better than the other one--and hopefully this will mean that those of you who didn't post it to your blogs because of the feminine style/color will be inclined to do so now that you've got a more gentlemanly version.
The Guys' Badge:
Here you go, guys!
A Note to My Readers
Be sure to check out the blogs of the above Nice Matters Award recipients. You'll find much to like there--not the least of which will be the bloggers themselves! Also, check out my original Nice Matters post, where you'll find links to the female bloggers to whom I presented this award, as well as those to whom I would have presented it, had they not already received it. Like the guys, these women will make you feel welcome whenever you visit--and also offer you a great deal of "food for thought" to make your visit a pleasant one.
Always remember: Nice Matters!
Jeanne
Did you enjoy this post? Have anything to add? Know of any other similar awards? Have you received them? We'd love to hear about it!

Some Gifts for My Friends
I know, I know, it's my blog birthday--but I still want to give away a few gifts to show my blogging friends how much I appreciate each one of you! Call them "party favors" if you like, but here are a few gifts I'd like to present to my friends and fellow bloggers. (These gifts and recipients are in no particular order.)
Blogging Gem Award
This award is for the female bloggers who have had the most impact on me during my first year of blogging. Please feel free to take this gift home to your blog, ladies--and thanks for being such great friends and shining--or glittering--examples to me!

But, even if you don't, I appreciate you! You are such an important part of this blog! Thanks for being you and visiting me!

Love you all!
Jeanne
P.S. Hope everyone's enjoyed the party as much as I have! Thanks for joining in on the festivities! And please don't forget to take your awards--er, party favors--home when you leave. Thanks for a great blog birthday!
The Contest
Wanted to share a gift, of sorts, given to me by Dan at dcrBlogs. Actually it's more of a consolation prize for my non-winning entry to his recent What is This Blog All About? contest. In this contest, Dan asked his writer-readers to write a description of his blog and offered a $10 prize to the blogger whose description he chose as most accurate and well-written. (Entries were left in comments and may be read at the above post.)
The Winner
In a later post, What You Think This Blog is All About, Dan reveals his choice for the winning entry: the one submitted by my blogging friend, Lillie Ammann of A Writer's Words, An Editor's Eye. (Congrats, Lillie on a job well-done!)
The Consolation Prize
In the above post Dan generously offers the Good Buzzz Blog Award to the non-winners:
Good Buzzz Blog Award
This award is “for blogs that have generated a happy hum in the blogosphere. Whether it be for their blog in general, one outstanding, unusual or controversial post, or for something cool the blogger has done. Or even for recognizing some promising, brand-new blogs.” Dan received it back in November, and he's kindly decided to pass it on to us, because he considers our taking the time to submit our entries to the contest to be "cool."
Thanks, Dan!
I'd like to thank Dan for the consolation prize, as well as the lesson learned through my submission of an overly lengthy entry--despite what my intuition tried to tell me! Nevertheless, like Dan, I, too, love Lillie's description and readily concede that the best entry did indeed win! Many congratulations to Lillie Ammann on an excellent description of an excellent blog: dcrBlogs!
Till next time,
Jeanne
How much thought have you given to your blog's description? If your blog is listed on Technorati or anywhere else, that description represents your blog. Does it make people want to visit? Any thoughts to share about this topic?
A Little Late, But with Lots of Link Love!
Since the first of the year, I've been planning (and working on) this post to thank all who commented at Writer's Notes in 2007. I'd hoped to have it finished sooner but simply couldn't manage it, and for that I apologize.
I would have liked to go into more detail than I have here, also (i.e., listing the number of comments each person left and giving special recognition to those who commented often); but, since I don't have an efficient method of doing this at the moment--and since I also don't want this post to be any later than it already is--I'll limit myself to identifying individual commenters and linking to their blogs in the same way I do in my monthly comment recognition posts.
Perhaps later, when I can find the time to delve more deeply into my blog's 2007 comments and analyze them more closely, I'll be able to compile a list of exactly how many comments each person left and include it in a follow-up post. For the time being, though, I'll settle for one big link-love post!
Writer's Notes' 2007 Comments
During 2007, Writer's Notes received a grand total of 1,072 comments--though roughly half were my own replies to reader comments; therefore I'll adjust that total to 536 net comments received from 98 readers during the year. (Well, actually, it was less than a year. See next paragraph.)
Because I began blogging at the very end of January (January 28th), I actually only blogged for an eleven-month period during 2007, which likely cut down on the number of comments I would have received had I blogged all year. (Oh, well, this year should be different.)
Also, being totally new to blogging, I got off to a rather slow start, taking a good few months to learn the ropes and begin publishing a substantial number of posts each month. (For example, in February, 2007, I only posted four entries, in March, five, and in April, just one--though I made up for it after finally developing my blogging rhythm in May, 2007, posting 29 entries that month. I'm sure that my blogging infrequency from February through April didn't help encourage many comments during that first quarter of my first blogging year!)
Writer's Notes' 2007 Commenters
At any rate, here's a list of all the readers who left comments at Writer's Notes during 2007 and for whom I am so very grateful! (Order of list is totally random.)

Many Thanks to Each and Every Commenter!
Thanks so much, everybody, for taking the time to leave your thoughts at Writer's Notes during the 11 months that I've been blogging! You have made this blog a lively, friendly community, and your insights, kind words, and generous good wishes have been greatly appreciated! Hope you'll help make the Writer's Notes Year Two conversation as fascinating as its Year One interaction has been!
And Many Thanks to All My Readers!
If you have visited Writer's Notes during 2007, subscribed to my RSS feed, or signed up for e-mail notification of new posts to my blog--even if you didn't leave comments--I so appreciate you, as well! I know how hectic life can be, and I understand that there are many other reasons, besides being busy, for not getting around to commenting on the blogs we visit.
I'd Love to Hear from You in 2008!
If you are a regular Writer's Notes reader--and even if you aren't--I'd sure love to get to know you during the coming year; so, if you could possibly find the time, it would be wonderful to hear from you! I promise that you'll receive a personal reply. That's one thing I always do here at Writer's Notes: respond to comments! That's because each and every one of you--and each and every one of your thoughts--is important to me! You may have noticed the "iReply" logo in my sidebar: You Comment, iReply! Why not try me this year!
Best wishes to each of you in the New Year!
Jeanne
NOTE: If I haven't included a link for a commenter, it's because I either don't have a URL for that commenter or I noticed certain content on the commenter's site which ran counter to the G-rating of this blog.
Did you enjoy this post? Or have you commented this year and I've forgotten to include you? Please feel free to let me know, and I'll correct the situation immediately!
A Simple but Fascinating Meme
Picked up a really simple meme at Krissy Knox's Sometimes I Think blog. It came from her post called (appropriately enough) Describe Me in One Word.
The rules for this meme are very simple: I had to think of a single word to describe Krissy (It can be tough to describe someone in only one word!) and leave it in a comment on her blog. Then, I had to write a post on my blog inviting my readers to do the same by describing me in only one word, leaving that word in my comments section, and posting the meme to their own blogs.
It's really one of the simplest memes I've ever seen, and it will hardly take you any time at all to come up with your word, write up a comment, and then create a very short entry on your own blog.
I'm tagging you! Are you game? (Don't forget to stop back by and leave a link to your post once you've written it, so we can drop by and join in the fun of describing you in only one word!)
Yours in a word,
Jeanne
P.S. I seem to recall Joanna Young bringing up a similar meme quite a while back, which I somehow never managed to get around to doing, because I was so busy at the time and there were other components to her meme besides the single-word description. My apologies, Joanna! I'll have to take a journey back in time and see if I can manage that one sometime soon--if you haven't totally given up on me by now!

Did you enjoy this post? What do you think of this meme? Want to play along? Please leave a comment!
A Freelancing Road--Less Traveled Perhaps--Yet Highly Entertaining!
Just thought I'd pass along these links to two very entertaining posts I've just discovered at the Freelancing, My Road Less Traveled blog of Kerith Collins. I think you'll enjoy them.
A Lighthearted Look at Language
For the Writer in All of Us is a poem about the English language that any writer and/or editor will be able to relate to. It discusses the inconsistencies and indiosyncrasies of this wonderful, yet often equally confusing language of ours which we endlessly attempt to weave into flowing streams of meaningful prose--effectively illustrating just how much of a challenge that can sometimes be. I truly enjoyed it, as I believe you will, also, if you'll take a few moments to check it out.
Some Intimate Insights Into the Ironies of Illness
10 Fantastic Tips to Get Influenza to Ruin Your Blogging Career will also strike a chord with most of us, as we read and relate to this writer's lighthearted look at a serious topic. We've all been in the place where illness has impacted our work, and Kerith's great sense of humor, along with her excellent sportsman-like perspective, as she shares her ironic advice for making sure that influenza will spread like wildfire through your home--effectively preventing you from carrying out your blogging responsibilites--is bound to leave you smiling and nodding your head in agreement.
Check out these two entertaining posts, written by a newcomer to the blogging scene, who knows how to connect with her readers through her insightful posts about experiences that most, if not all of us, can relate to.
Enjoy!
Jeanne

Did you enjoy this post? You know what to do!
Just thought I'd tell my readers about the latest group writing project, slated to begin on Monday, August 6th, at Middle Zone Musings. To read more about the project, follow this link to Robert Hruzek's post, entitled, Get Those Little Gray Cells Ready!
While Robert is keeping the precise nature of the project somewhat under wraps at this point, I can tell you this much: It will be built around the phrase, "What I Learned From..." Though Robert is currently keeping all of us in suspense as to the actual topic we'll be expected to expound upon, his latest group writing project promises to be every bit as interesting as previous projects at MZM have been.
Which brings me to another project that Robert is running concurrently with his As-Yet-Unknown-Topic group writing project: his latest meme, entitled My Home Town. If you love the town you live in, if you live in an unusual place, or if there are one or more unique characteristics, idiosyncrasies, or unusual tourist attractions in your town, and if you'd enjoy writing about them, you might just want to submit a post to the meme.
Your post should answer the following question, expressed In Robert's own words: "What, in your opinion, is or are the most amazing, unusual, strange or just plain weird things about where you live?"
While he has tagged a few specific folks for this meme, Robert invites anyone who is interested to join in on the fun, stating, "but if you aren’t tagged and feel like jumping in, by all means, go for it!"
So, there's your invitation! Check out Robert's blog for all the specifics for both the My Home Town meme and the upcoming What I Learned From... group writing project.
You may just find that you're having a great time writing your entry, while at the same time creating more widespread exposure for your writing--and perhaps even some valuable links to your website or blog!
Chances are extremely good that you'll also meet a lot of great people and create many online friendships as a result of these projects.
So, why not join the conversation at Middle Zone Musings!
Happy writing!
Jeanne
