Describe Me in One Word: A Meme

November 29th 2007 16:35

A Simple but Fascinating Meme

Picked up a really simple meme at Krissy Knox's Sometimes I Think blog. It came from her post called (appropriately enough) Describe Me in One Word.

The rules for this meme are very simple: I had to think of a single word to describe Krissy (It can be tough to describe someone in only one word!) and leave it in a comment on her blog. Then, I had to write a post on my blog inviting my readers to do the same by describing me in only one word, leaving that word in my comments section, and posting the meme to their own blogs.

It's really one of the simplest memes I've ever seen, and it will hardly take you any time at all to come up with your word, write up a comment, and then create a very short entry on your own blog.

I'm tagging you! Are you game? (Don't forget to stop back by and leave a link to your post once you've written it, so we can drop by and join in the fun of describing you in only one word!)

Yours in a word,
Jeanne

P.S. I seem to recall Joanna Young bringing up a similar meme quite a while back, which I somehow never managed to get around to doing, because I was so busy at the time and there were other components to her meme besides the single-word description. My apologies, Joanna! I'll have to take a journey back in time and see if I can manage that one sometime soon--if you haven't totally given up on me by now!

One word descriptions are tough: Insightful.

Hi, Chris!

Great to see you! I was thinking about you just the other day and meant to make it over to your blog, but things have just been so hectic lately, I haven't managed to get there yet! My apologies!

Thanks for your input on the "Describe Me in One Word" meme! What a great descriptive word for a blogger to hear used about him/herself! I definitely appreciate that one!

Hope things are going well at UCI! Thanks so much for dropping by!

Blessings,
Jeanne

Gee, this one is hard.

Just one word. I'll say creative. And I'm sticking to it!

Hi, Krissy!

Thanks! I like that one a lot, so I'm glad you're sticking to it! This meme is lots of fun--and it's getting to be more fun the more responses I get! (Of course, one never really knows what future comments will bring--which makes it a little scary!)

Thanks for "tagging" me!

Ugh, I just tried to make a comment and Orble ate it, LOL. I'll try one more time! Just wanting to say there is no reason to be a little scared about future responses to the one word answers you'll get. You and your blog are spectacular! I have learned so much from you. Just wanted to let you know.

Krissy,

Thanks so much for your very encouraging words! It was really sweet of you to offer them! I'm so glad you like Writer's Notes--and me, as well!)

I'm very sorry to hear that Orble ate your comment! That's always very frustrating! When I've written something I want to make sure I won't lose, I usually at least copy it--and sometimes I even paste it into MS-Word--before I click "Submit." That way, if I lose it, all I have to do is paste it back in! That might be a good idea in the future, so that if your comment gets eaten again, you'll only have to paste it back in!

Thanks for another welcome visit! Hope John is feeling better!

Take care!

Jeanne, I had asked readers some time back for one word to describe my blog. Less scary than one word to describe me! You're brave

But that's not my word. My word is...

friendly

I was tempted to find something smarter than that, but I think plain simple words are the best, as are plain, simple values, like this one

Hi, Joanna!

I know what you mean! It can be rather scary to ponder just what word someone might choose to describe you! But, I just decided to go for it!

I like the word you chose very much, because friendly is exactly what I want to be through my blog--and everywhere else!

Thanks for participating!
Jeanne

P.S. You'll have to refresh my memory on the rest of your meme. Was it to describe your blog in one word, then one sentence, then one paragraph?

Jeanne - yes, it was:

describe my blog in one word
describe my blog in one sentence
describe my blog in as many words as you like

I wasn't actually brave enough to ask all my readers! I e-mailed my regular commenters and friends for feedback...

The original question came from Liz Strauss - you'd find the background on her blog

Joanna,

That's right--now I remember! Sorry to have forgotten that it had been a private request to only your regular commenters! Let me say, however, that I truly believe you would have been fine had you asked ALL your commenters!

I'm not at all surprised to hear that this great idea came from Liz Strauss. Liz always has a fresh new topic, angle, or thought-provoking concept to share at Successful Blog! That's what makes it such a fascinating place to visit!

Thanks for dropping back by to clear up my fuzzy recall about your meme!

Stop back again soon!
Jeanne
