Writer's Notes Quiet Lately Due to Family Illness

One Illness on Top of Another
Just wanted to let my readers know that the reason I haven't been posting much lately has been that various members of my family have been ill with a number of different problems. We've all heard the saying, "When it rains, it pours." Well, that's what it's doing at our house, as well as among my remotely located relatives.
Both Locally...
I, personally, haven't yet fully come back to good health, myself, since before Christmas, with various manifestations/new strains popping up just when I've felt I was recovering from the old ones! Aside from that, my 19-year-old son just came down with a bad case of the flu a few nights ago, with a high temp of 103 yesterday, and my mom has been dealing with various health issues, as well.
And Remotely...
As if that weren't enough, I've also received phone calls/e-mails in the past three days or so that a few other close family members--close in relationship, though not in proximity--have had frightening medical episodes, including emergency trips and/or admissions to their local hospitals. So, as you can see, I've had a great deal on my mind, of late!
Writing Deadlines Also Loom
Aside from this, there are, of course, the usual regular writing deadlines for my contract writing clients, which, though I've managed to postpone a few--mainly by delaying the start of a sub-contract with a new client-of-a-client--have still kept me occupied more than I'd like to be at a time of family medical crisis--or more accurately, family medical crises.
Please Bear With Me!
So, please forgive me for not updating Writer's Notes, lately. I've really wanted to, believe me, and hope to return to doing so again very soon! In fact, if I'm able to manage to write a post which I'd like to enter into the Middle Zone Musings "What I Learned From...People" writing project before the deadline (which is Sunday night MZM time--which means Middle Zone Musings time--I'll be posting it here with a link to MZM. Hope I'll be able to manage it! Time will tell!
Thanks for your understanding!
Jeanne

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and concern! We're all managing to get through it and haven't yet had any emergencies that turned out to be life-threatening in the end--for which I'm thankful. Some of my relatives' problems could potentially prove so down the line, but we're thankful that they haven't at this point--and of course we hope that they won't.
Thanks for your thoughtful visit!

Many thanks for your compassionate words! They're greatly appreciated! You are so right that rest would be just the thing right now! Wish I didn't have all these writing deadlines closing in! I will have to try to take some time for myself, though--one way or another!
Thanks for the great advice!

I just read this post. I'm so sorry to hear about your medical problems. Being ill during the holidays is extra stressful. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
My husband has recently been diagnosed with melanoma (skin cancer) and has gone through one surgery and multiple treatments so far. All of his doctors are fantastic but the (male) receptionist at one doctors office is HORRID.
Two nights ago we learned that the sister of a close friend of ours just passed away. She had leukemia but had been in remission. This same friend's 13 year daughter was just diagnosed with a brain tumor last month - doctors have given her 6-10 months to live.
Our daughter is 12 1/2 - kind of makes you rethink your priorities in life. My husband and I have always been very family oriented but are making even more of an effort to spend time with our children, family and friends.
Writing and keeping in touch with friends (in person, online, through letters or phone calls) is one thing that keeps me from going completely bonkers.
Take care,
Lynn

Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and very welcome prayers! I'll take all the prayer I can get!
So sorry to hear of your husband's illness and the double blow to your friend's family due to the death of her sister and the terminal cancer diagnosis of her young niece. So sad. And she's so young. I'll keep each of the people you've mentioned in my prayers. I wish each one of them and each of their/your families well and pray that the grace of God will abound in your lives.
Yes, illness and death always bring us back to the things and people that really matter in life, reminding us that none of us knows how long we--or our loved ones--really have left. I'm a widow, myself, so I know something of what you speak. Family and friends are so important. I don't know how I would have gotten through my husband's sudden death nearly four years ago without both them and God.
Thanks so much for such a compassionate, insightful, in-depth comment!
May you and those you care about always be blessed,
Jeanne
