My Guest Post at Blogging Fingers In First Place, So Far!
February 11th 2008 23:44
My Entry Was In First Place This Morning!
I've just learned that my entry to the Blogging Fingers guest posting contest is, so far, in first place based on unique visitors, which makes me the top contender for the $50 prize to be awarded to the entrant with the most unique visitors by February 14th.
Please Visit My Guest Post and Help Me Win!
Since February 14th is only three days away, I'd like to let my readers know that, if you haven't visited my Five Ways to Make Other Bloggers Absolutely Adore You! post yet, I could sure use the visit.
Please Consider Stumbling My Post to Help Solidify My Lead!
Also, if you like my post enough and haven't done so yet, I could certainly use a Stumble to help me stay in the lead. (Matt is encouraging his guest posters to promote our entries via StumbleUpon or any other way we see fit, as long as it's legit.)
Second-Place Entry Not Far Behind!
As of early this morning, I was only ahead of the second-place contestant by about 40 unique visitors, though I had a fairly strong to very strong lead against the others. All it would take would be one Stumble of another entrant’s post (particularly the second-place entrant) to upset my lead; so I’m asking my readers who haven’t already visited or Stumbled my post to consider helping me out. I must say that the extra money would certainly come in handy right now with family illness and missed workdays!
My Earlier Post About the Contest
I wrote about my entry in an earlier post, Please Support My Entry to the Blogging Fingers Guest Author Contest with a Stumble. For more info about the contest, as well as a link to Matt's original announcement, follow that link.
Thanks so much for your support!
Jeanne

Writer's Notes
My favorite writers are all writers who express themselves with eloquence, wisdom, wit, vision, and empathy and who are able to develop a real rapport with their readers, making them feel as if the writer could be writing about their very own experiences.
There are many more writers than I can count who possess these abilities--many of whose names few would recognize. A number of bloggers I know would fit this category, as well as many other writers I've read, whose work has received very little publicity and whose names I, myself, don't recall, yet who have brought me real moments of pleasure, connection, and revelation.
Some authors/poets/playwrights who are more widely known that I believe have achieved this--and they are just a drop in the proverbial bucket--are William Shakespeare, John Donne, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Charles Dickens, Robert Frost...and I could go on and on. They are really far too numerous to mention.
As you can see, I tend to focus more on the classics--though I also enjoy an excellent modern-day writer as much as the next person. I tend to read more non-fiction these days than anything else--pretty much everything of interest that I can get my hands on.
Since I began blogging about a year ago, I've so enjoyed reading the wise and well-penned words of many excellent bloggers, of which I am continually delighted to find more almost daily.
Thanks for asking!

Thanks so much! I truly appreciate it--and I'm glad you enjoyed the post! That was certainly the object--well, aside from winning the contest, that is!
Thanks for the visit!

You're a doll! Too bad they don't count repeat visits. But I do appreciate your leaving a comment on my contest post. A number of my other blogging friends left comments, as well, and I appreciate all of you! Have you gone back and read my reply to your comment, yet? (My "You comment, iReply" policy doesn't only apply to my own blog!) Thanks so much for stumbling my guest post, too!

Fiddles. And I thought a repeat visit would count...

Thanks for trying! Only unique visits count, though--so it's one visit to a customer! I guess it's only fair that way, though, when you think about it.
Thanks for your many kind words about my post! So glad you got a kick out of it. Glad, too, that I have you in my corner!
Cheers!

Have you heard about EntreCards? You might like to check them out, if you haven't already. I have a post on them or you can go right to

Thanks soooo much! Funny, because I just came back from checking StumbleUpon and just noticed your stumble! How's that for timing! Thanks, too, for your good wishes!
I've heard of EntreCard, but I'd have to give it some thought. I did read your post, actually, and EntreCard sounds interesting; but I'd have to decide whether it would fit in with what I'm trying to do here at Writer's Notes. (To be honest, I have so many things in my sidebar that I have no idea where on earth I'd put it!)
Thanks again for the stumble--and the visit!
